Baby Blankets

Baby blankets are often preferred if they are cellular in nature. This means that they are created with small holes in them to encourage airflow and breathability. Generally, particularly when it comes to newborns, parents will start off with both cotton sheets and cotton cellular blankets.

For use with a bassinet, baby blankets can be purchased in special baby carriage sizes. Usually people start off with four sheets and two or three blankets. The sheets can be made from any of a number of materials, including woven cotton, brushed flannelette, stretch cotton terry or cotton jersey.

Acrylic cellular baby blankets may be purchased as opposed to cotton ones. These are ideal for very cold areas. Also, they are very conveniently and effectively washed. Traditional wool blankets may not be suitable to be washed in a machine. Polyester fleece options are very great for the cold but can easily make a baby too hot.
